ABOUT ANNA MARIA ISLAND
Anna Maria Island is located in Manatee County, Florida, and consists of three small beach towns: Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach, and Holmes Beach.
Anna Maria sits at the north end of the island, just south of the Passage Key National Wildlife Refuge. According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, this refuge "hosts the largest royal tern and sandwich tern in the state of Florida."
On the opposite end of the island from Anna Maria is Bradenton Beach. Just south of Bradenton Beach is the barrier island of Longboat Key. Bradenton Beach is also accessible directly from Bradenton via Cortez/State Highway 684.
Holmes Beach sits between Anna Maria and Bradenton Beach. Manatee Beach Park is one of the most popular destinations in Holmes Beach. This beach park offers many amenities like a gift shop, grills, water fountains, and a play area. Holmes Beach can be reached directly from Bradenton via State Road 64.
